DEFEAT FOR MON TALISMAN Fite Rari the Conqueror in Highly-Prized Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamps. SPECIAL, CABLEGRAM. PARIS, France, June 27. The contention of turf experts that the French three-year-olds of the current season are but an average lot was supported by the result of the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamps yesterday, when M. P. Moulines Fite Rari defeated E. Martinez de Hoz Mon Talisman, with Baron E. de Rothchilds Flamant third and Ogden Mills Lusignan fourth. There were sixteen starters In the 3,000-meter prize, which was worth about 2,000 to the winner. Mon Talisman, the favorite, succumbed to his conqueror in a manner that bred doubt of his gameness. He was beaten half a length, coming into the stretch head and head with the pacemaker. The field was sent away to a good start. As usual, Mon Talisman was slow to find his racing stride. Fite Rari was to the fore at all times. At the head of the stretch, Semblat sent Mon Talisman around on the outside, and he quickly closed in on the vanguard. Straightened out for the final run the race developed Into a contest between Mon Talisman and Fite Rari, which was ridden by Herve, It was the supreme test for Mon Talisman, as in all his races previously ho had never had a rival dispute the issue with him in a stretch drive. Herve and Semblat asked their mounts for everything they had. In the desperate gruelling finish, Mon Talisman and Fite Rari drew away from the remainder of the field, with Moulines colt plainly out-gaming the Argentine owners colorbearer.
