LINCOLN FIELDS IMPROVED New Building and Grounds Beautified to Extent of 00,000 Weights for Inaugural Stake. When Lincoln Fields was constructed last year It was estimated that approximately ,000,000 was expended in giving Chicago one of the finest race tracks in the country. Not content with that great outlay of money, managing director CoL Matt J. Winn and president Stuyvesant Peabody have made additional improvements this spring in new buildings and beautifying the plant that havo cost about 00,000. When the: gates of Lincoln Fields are thrown open next SaturiaT the public is due for an immense surprise and will see a racing ground on a par with beautiful Belmont Park in the East With the close of racing at Washington Park, Fairmount and Latonia close at hand there will be a wonderful collection of seasoned racers available for the sport at Lincoln Fields. In addition there will be quite a few" eastern owners represented during the thirty-seven days of racing at the Crete course. Undoubtedly, the stalls at both Lincoln Fields and Washington Park will have to be utilized to take care of all the horses that are coming here. Weights for the Crete Handicap, which features the opening at Lincoln Fields next Saturday, were announced this afternoon. The race, which is at three-quarters and is endowed with ,000 added, attracted a nomination list of 106, embracing the best there is in the country. Edward B. McLeans Prince of Wales has been given the post of honor with 126 pounds and following him comes the crack Sweepster, which has 122 allotment His stable-mate Cheops, which has been winning frequently on eastern courses, has been given 118. Princess Doreen, Americas most sturdy racing mare of the present time, has an impost of 120 pounds, one more than Happy Argo. Old Slip and Sarmaticus, with, respectively, 117 and 116, seem to be weighted well. The good filly Girl Scout, which has popularized herself at Washington Park by taking into camp the best that could be mustered against her, is in particularly well with an impost of 115 pounds, and will receive vast attention from the Chicago public.
