DODGSON TRAINING WELL I J. S. Ward Colt Thought to Have Good Chance in Renewal of Kentucky Derby. LKXINGTON, Ky., April 7. — While there . is not much to enthuse over in the way of prospective Derby timber here this spring, horsemen of the large local colony are inclined to look with favor upon the Everglade • Stables three-year-old Dodgson. Owner-trainer . J. S. Ward has been taking the son of Dodge along slowly and. while he may not • measure up to Derby caliber, he surely will prove his worth in formidable company, if he continues to respond so well to Wards ; training program and is returning to the . fine form that permitted him to win two races at Saratoga last August. . He won at five and one-half furlongs in l:0t -5. defeating Misstep. Vito. Sublevado. Prate. Etegh Count. Polish, Oh Say. Petee-Wrack and Bar None. His next victory was ; over a distance of three-quarters and behind I him finish d Redclifte, Folamile. Charley ■ J. S.. Ob Say. Beaumont, Sledge Hammer and I Fedotina. Those two racers give indication of considerable qualit aiid. if Ward is successful in 1 bringing th • colt up to the standard of form of those performance*, he will have a colt that surely should race effectively with the ? best that can be mustered against him. Ilis moot recent gallop over a mile in 1 :4C» ■ is Interpreted as indication of Wards intention to prepare him for long distance racing and possibly the Kentucky Derby. Jockey Kennetb Hoffman is here with the ? stable and probably will do some of the heavier riding for that establishment during r the coming Benson. *
