Van meter, local horseman, is preparing fifteen horses for the approaching season. Four of the array will race in his colors, while W. W. Darden, Desha Breckinridge, H. C. Ragan and Horace Davis are owners of the others. Darden owns Sir Rogers and his younger sister Coloratura. Davis has a two-year-old filly by On Watch in the band. The six horses Van meter is handling for Breckin-i ridge are the three-year-old West Wind and the followi lg two-year-olds : Tupulo, chestnut gelding by Brumado — Cynthiana ; Hurst- 1. nd, bay colt by Baigneur — Paris Maid ; Dude Williams, chestnut colt by Fitz Wii- Ham — Affection ; Mad Star, chestnut gelding by North Star III. — Lady Madcap, and a brown son of Whisk. Kaintuck, chestnut colt by Omar Khay-7 yam — Jessie C. : Master, bay colt by Star Hawk — Dove Tail, and Mary Gay, bay filly by Sun Flag — Nancy Hagan are two-year-olds being trained for Ragan, while Van Meter has Rollage and the two-year-olds Nomination, brown colt by Ballot — Wall Flower II. ; Doltaire, bay colt by Boniface — Annah. and Linda Archer, bay filly by Chatter ton — Nanone.
