, . ■ - 1 WIDENERS FRENCH VICTORY SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. . PARIS, France, May 10.— Joseph E. Wid-eners Winnipeg made his first appearance of the season under colors at Le Tremblay today, and won in a driving finish by a head. The three-year-old son of Rabelais — Whydeh accounted for the Prix Leonce-Delatrc, a stake for thoroughbreds of his age, exclusively, at 1,400 meters. Trainer Jerry Welsh sent a fit horse to the post un- der M. MacGee. who rode an excellent race. Winnipeg was a veritable picture. After being headed in the stretch run he came again. He was a bit green, but ran gamely. Win- nipeg started only once as a juvenile, and on that occasion he won the Prix des Roches Noires at Deauville. George D. Widt-ner was present at the race today. _ , «
