Brooms and Petee-Wrack will have blinkers as part of their equipment when they go the post for the Preakness tomorrow. Trainer R. A. Smith has decided to try Strolling Player without blinkers tomorrow. The colt has been at the barrier without blinkers and broke well and worked fast, hence the change, with the hope that he will show something like the form he displayed England. Thomas B. Cromwell and J. P. Nichols were arrivals from Kentucky. They are here witness the running of the Preakness. Jockey L. Fator will arrive here tomorrow from Jamaica to ride Nassak in the Preakness. James Park, who rode Dr. J. Fred Adams Gracie to victory in the Billy Barton Steeplechase, is a former master of the Aleadow-brook hounds. He now is a resident of Alary-land, having purchased a farm in Harford County. Jockeys Fields. C. Kummer, G. Schreiner and J. Alaiben have returned from New York. Pichon was struck in the eye yesterday by clod of mud and the injured optic developed an infection, which necessitated that rider cancelling engagements this afternoon. Jockey E. Smallwood is going to the Alount Royal track in Alontreai, where he will ride for Todd Alanley and G. Wilson. J. W. Healy will ship the fifteen horses he has in training here to Belmont Park on Saturday. Eight of them are steeplechasers. J. B. Bussey will ship direct to the Arlington Heights track from Pimlico. Clyde Ponce has joined forces with Aliller Henderson and will accompany the Audley Farm Stable to Fairmount Park. L. Steinhart and L. Pichon leave with the Seagram Stable for Toronto next week. A. C. Burkhart got in from Toronto this morning and, after looking over the two-year-olds in the R. W. Wahlea A. H. Alorris stable, he purchased three of them, and they will be shipped to Canada. Steeplechase jockey L. Cheyne, who injured his spine when Warfain fell with him on the opening day of the meeting, watched the races from the paddock enclosure. Cheyne will not be in shape to ride again for a couple of weeks. C. L. Whiting, whose eastern division of his stable is trained by T. J. Donohue, was an arrival from Rochester, N. Y. He will remain over until after the running of the Preakness Stakes. The Willis Sharpe Kilmer colt Sun Beau will be shipped to Churchill Downs immediately after the running of the Preakness Stakes to fill his engagement in the Derby. Jockey J. Craigmyle rides him in the big classics. Preston Burch, acting for the Nevada Stock Farm, disposed of the two-year-old Rapid Transit to the Kilrain Stable. The colt will be shipped to Toronto, and jockey Peternel goes to Woodbine Park to ride him in his stake engagement at that point. Tolasco, another two-year-old in the stable, was disposed of to J. AI. Hubbell, Jr. P. E. Purkins claimed Houston, the beaten favorite of the sixth race for his entered price of ,000 from E. AL Byers. W. Garth shipped sixteen of the Samuel Ross horses to Belmont Park this afternoon. a 1
