ENTRIES FOR TORONTO CUP TOROXTO. Ont., May 10.— Fifty-five entries, three more than last year, have been received for the Toronto Cup, the 3,000 added handicap, one of the big features of the Ontario Jockey Clubs spring meeting at Woodbine and to be run Thursday. May 24. This will be the thirty-sixth running of the most valuable stake in Canada. A refreshing nature about the list of nominations is that the bulk of the horses are ready to race, which means that the event will probably attract one of the largest and best matched fields in its long and glorious history. Considering that none of the nominations was solicited, it is a remarkable list and augurs well for the mile and an eighth race. Most of the leading stables in Canada and the United States are represented in the list of entries. Neither Joy Smoke, the winner in 1926. nor Display, last years victor, are included, the former having been converted into a jumper, while the latter went wrong recently and will be out of competition for a time. But there are plenty of other good ones.
