AFTERMATH OF PREAKNESS Trainer Schorr Blames Ambroses Overconfidence for Narrow Defeat of Toro. BALTIMORE. Md., May 12.— An express car will leave here Sunday morning for Louisville with the Kentucky I»erby eligibles Petee-Wrack, Don Q., Distraction and Sun-fire. Max Hirsch has decided to send Vito to Churchill Downs from here to fill his engagement in the I erby. Trainer Johnny Schorr was disappointed when Toro did not win the Preakness Stakes. He lays the defeat of the colt partly to over-confidence on the part of jockey Ambrose. When Toro caught and pursued Victorian at the eighth pole, Ambrose likely thought that he had the Whitney colt beaten and there were many who were watching the race who thought the same. Had Ambrose kept at Toro, the McLean colt would probably have won. He was loaded on a car this morning and sent to Louisville. The race that Sun Beau ran in the Preakness Stakes earned the Kilmer colt many friends, and he will not lack for backing in the running of the Derby next Saturday. Sortie came out of the Preakness Stakes with a gash on his leg where he was kicked while at the post. The Whitney pair, Victorian and Honker, i were loaded in the stables private van after they were cooled out last night and returned i to Belmont Park. Morty Mahoney had a battery of 101 sellers ; and 110 cashiers in action at Pimlico yesterday and was proud of the fact that no 1 one who wished to wager on the Preakness Stakes was shut out. The machines established a record in the amount of money wagered. The handle on the seven races was ,174,000, or exactly 0,000 more than was handled on Preakness Day in 1925. There were 37,000 tickets sold, and 27,000 programs were disposed of during the afternoon. •
