f CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES ? $ — « LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 23. Jockey Bowden, who was on Sethfer when that horse fell yesterday, resumed riding today. Thomas P. Hayes, veteran horseman, is in a critical condition, suffering from stomach trouble at a local hospital. The horses of his stable are being looked after by Wayne Lewis and James Sloane. Jockey "Chick" Lang, who rode Reigh Count to victory in the Kentucky Derby, is making a visit to his home at Washington, D. C. Edward Scherder and Richard Gahan. who are in charge of the concessions and dining rooms at Fairmount Park, left last night for that track. D. S. Michell, trainer of the horses of Mrs. J. D. Hertz, who made a visit to the latters farm following Reigh Counts Derby victory, is due to return here Thursday. Reigh Count was further improved this morning, but was not indulged in exercise. Silas Mason, who races a number of horses under the nom de course of Warm Stable, is a visitor. Mr. Mason is a native of Lexington and also maintains the Dunthreath Stud. R. W. Collins has sold to R. S. Clark of New York, the yearling colt by High Time — Precious Pearl. The youngster is held in high regard. Terms of the transfer were not given out. B. B. Jones, owner of Audley Farm, who has been a vistor here for the past few days, will remain until after the running of the Kentucky Oaks on the closing day of the meeting. Mr. Jones has five eligibles for the stake, including such good fillies as Sisters Hope, Marsh Violet and Easter Stockings. xtoscoe Goose will take a division of the J. N. Camden Stable to Arlington Park. while D. E. Stewart proceeds to Latonia with his section of the same establishment following the close here. C. F. Price, chairman of the Illinois License Committee, will leave Saturday night for Chicago to attend the meeting of the committee on Sunday. Other members of the committee have advised Judge Price of their intention to attend the session. John Holmes has given the plater Fireproof, which broke down in his race yesterday, to Shelby West.
