I CANADIAN TURF GOSSIP $ s TORONTO. Ont., May 24. J. Healey returned from New York this morning. He was accompanied by jockey J. Callahan, who came up to ride R. T. Wilsons Sunfire in the Toronto Cup Handicap. There will be several additions to the stable that Jack Pryce is handling for the Wilson-Salmon confederacy. Joseph McLennan, racing secretary at Thorncliffe Park and Blue Bonnets, was an arrival from New York. At the conclusion of the Thorncliffe Park meeting McLennan will leave for New York City to solicit stables for the Blue Bonnets meeting. It is said that several of the larger establishments may send a division of their stables to participate in the meeting of the Montreal Jockey Club. In the future the fields in all three-quarters races out of the chute will be limited to twelve. In races at five and a half furlongs the limit is placed at fourteen. Senator Donal Raymond, whose colors are among the most popular of the Canadian owners, was a visitor. Senator Raymond is one of the sportsmen interested in the Mount Royal Stud, located at Verscheres, Quebec. There are some twenty-three mares located at the place, all of which have been bred to the Broomstick stallion Cudgel. Senator Raymond owned at one time the mare Sal-volatile, the dam of the great mare Sallys Alley. John Parnell Mclnerney accompanied John F. Madigan over from Buffalo to take in the afternoons sport. Through an error the Canadian-bred two-year-olds Circulet and Irish Sphere were programmed as colts. They are geldings.
