DUNBEATH bgan slowly and was far hack for the first half mile, but, coming on the inside in the stretch, ;uickly closed an immense gap and got up in the final few yards to outfinish GABALDON. GABALDON gained steadily while racing on the outside and, passing the leaders in the stretch, took a brief lead, but failed to withstand the winner to the end. TOPANGO showed much the most early speed and kept the lead gamely to the last eighth, then tired. MAIiY CONNORS raced in closest pursuit, but tired in a hard final drive. WASHOE and PROGRAM showed early speed, but soon quit. PRIVATELY raced in close pursuit of CHINK to the stretch, then challenged and took a slight lead, but barely lasted to win in a hard final drive. CHINK, racing in improved form and without blinkers today, quickly raced into the early lead, but began tiring in the stretch, then came again after lo: ing the lead and narrowly failed to get up again. SANDY HATCH raced prominently throughout and made a game finish STURDY STELLA was on the outside and had no misnrps. but could not improve her position. CAROM, acting badly at t he post, was left sidewise.
