PALMER GELDING SCORES Dry Nation Outstays Sunny Dividend by Neck in Feature Race at Hamilton, Ohio. HAMILTON*, Ohio, May 24— H. T. Palmers Dry Nation, making his debut at the Fair Grounds, was returned winner of the fifth race, which attracted the most select field of the afternoon. He was hustled into the lead at once, closely accompanied by Blanc Seing. The latter went extremely wide while on the second turn, which eliminated him as a serious factor. When the stretch was reached Sunny Dividend came with a rush, forcing Smith, on Dry Nation, to a hard drive to win by a neck. Sunny Dividend was best, but he ran into a pocket when Pevic attempted to come through to the inner rail approaching the stretch turn. Rain threatened during the greater part of the afternoon, which served to keep down the attendance somewhat, but the races were staged over a fast track and resulted in close and exciting stretch struggles. One of the best finishes of the day came in the second race, in which the placed trio reached the finish closely bunched. Probate, after racing Dr. Hickman into submission, was hard pressed at the end to stall off Lena Wood and Jof, which were heads apart. K. S. Clevelands colors were home in fr«5nt by a narrow margin in the following race, when Archaist, under a hard drive, earned the decision from the fast-finishing Brock-lesby. Roma barely saved third. It developed that Mode Nicol failed to complete negotiations for the purchase of Brocklesby. . A .
