MANY HORSES FOR LAT0NIA Indications Point to a Capacity Number of Establishments to Race at Covington Course. LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 24.— Charles Nolte, track superintendent at Latonia, basing his statement on the fact that almost a score of stables have already arrived at the track, is confident that the coming meeting at the Covington course will attract a great number of racers of high quality. He reports requests for stable accommodations as heavy as in any previous year, and from practically all the leading stables of the West. Establishments regarded as "easterners" are also quite numerous among the stables that have obtained quarters at Latonia, according to Mr. Nolte. A majority of the stables that have already reached Latonia were shipped there from Lexington and Baltimore at the termination of the spring seasons at those centers. One of the more prominent eastern stables that have invaded Kentucky since the close of the Maryland season is the Foxcatcher Farm Stable of William Dupont, wealthy sportsman of Wilmington, Del. Trainer C. Utz brought the stable of ten horses to Churchill Downs just a few days ago and, following the local meeting, will transfer it to Latonia. The establishment embraces but one older horse, the three-year-old filly Pinlc Lily, an Oaks eilgible. Among the nine two-year-olds are candidates for the Bashford Manor Stakes, to be run here, and the Clip-setta Stakes, and the Cincinnati Trophy, to be run during the Latonia meeting. The entire pretentious stable of Edward B. McLean will be campaigned at Latonia, as will the extensive western division of the Harry Payne Whitney establishment. Other prominent owners having reservations at Latonia include : B. B. Jones, Navin, Fisher and Briggs, J. N. Camden, R. S. Clark, C. B. Shaffer, D. T. Matlack, M. Goldblatt, H. P. Headley, G. C. and C. C. Hieatt, W. E. Hupp, Joe Kone, P. Laffoon, J. B. Respess, J. C. Schank, Leo J. Marks, Mrs. George B. Cox, Payne and West, J. W. Parrish, W. H. Whitehouse, W. F. Poison, Desha Breckinridge, E. Cebrian, Mrs. J. B. Brown, W. S. Dudley, P. T. Chinn, A. B. Gallaher, S. S. Combs, H. P. Gardner, E. E. Mooar, C. Bach-arach, A. J. Stallings, F. P. Letellier, J. S. Taylor, C. C. Van Meter, H. C. Ragan and others. The Latonia meeting will have its inauguration on Tuesday, June 5, when a renewal of the ,000 added Inaugural Handicap will feature the opening days program. The season will run for a period of twenty-nine days, during which all the noted fixtures of recent meetings will be renewed.
