MAGNITA, away well and in closest pursuit of the pacemaker, wore EAST MAN down steadily and was slowly drawing clear at the end. EAST MAN raced into a good lead quickly, saved ground where possible, but tired in the final eighth. SPAN raced into third place quickly, but was never able to menace the first two and pulled up lame from a bruised foot. PRECIPICE and the others were outpaced throughout. PLEDGE raced close up throughout and came again at the end. THE HEATHEN showed the most early speed, but tired in the last quarter. PETER FIZ was on the outside for the entire race. BEAU OF THE WEST raced well and finished resolutely. TAUItUS had no mishaps. EYER MORE was much used in forcing the pace and tired. ARRANT JADE tired badly. MR.
