JOCKEY HELD IN AUTO DEATH COLLINSVILLE, 111., May 31.— Jockey W. Lauscher is being held by Collinsville police following investigation into the death this morning of Tony Staten, a policeman, who was injured when struck by an automobile last night. Witnesses say Staten stepped in front of a machine during a rain last night and, although exact identification was not made, the machine, which did not stop, was believed to have been Lauschers. The rider disclaims any knowledge of the accident. Bond for him was arranged this afternoon by his contract employer, John S. Ward, pending examining trial. His riding engagements this afternoon were cancelled. *
