OMAHA INAUGURAL TODAY Annual Meeting at Ak-Sar-Ben Field to Begin Under Most Favorable Auspices. OMAHA, Neb.. May 31. — The annual meeting of the Ak-Sar-Ben Exposition Company gets under way at Omaha tomorrow, and indications point to an extremely successful one. Over 400 thoroughbreds are present and ready to participate, and interest in this city, and, in fact, all Nebraska, is keen. While no special feature has been arranged for opening day, a card of seven good races have been arranged by racing secretary John Carey. All fields are well filled, the best event on the program being the fifth race, in which Waimanu, Miss Drapeau. Shampoo, Thistle Gold and other good ones meet. Saturday is expected to be the gala day and the management is making preparations to entertain a large gathering. The Council Bluffs Handicap, a sprint of five and a half furlongs, which carries a money value of ,000, will be run on that day. as well as several other good races. The officials for the Omaha meeting are : Herman Conkling, presiding steward; N. J. Ronin, popular Nebraska horseman representing the Nebrask: State Racing Association, and Perry Reed, as the board of Stew* arils ; John Carey and J. S. Rothert, who will serve as judges, and Edward Thomas will replace James Donovan as starter.
