CHARLES raced into the lead in the first quarter, showed the most speed and easily held the race safe through the last quarter. UPDIKE also moved up fast in the first quarter and raced resolutely to the end. HARRY B. saved ground on the last turn and easily outfinished the others. IGNATIUS raced close up on the inside to the last turn, where he saved ground, then raced into the lead and drew away fast through the last eighth. PAUL REVERE raced into the lead after reaching the stretch, but could not withstand the winner and bumped DOLTAIRE repeatedly in the final drive. The latter began fast and swerved when tiring in the stretch. RIG SANDY dropped back at once and could never get to the leaders. NICOLETT was done early.
