INAUGURAL AT AQUEDUCT * Kentucky II. Accounts for Valuable Queens County Handicap. * Another Trlnmph for Max Hirsrh — Fair 3Ian Takes Measure of Social Mug in Final Race. * NEW YORK, N. Y., June 11.— Fresh from a victory in the famous old Belmont Stakes Saturday with Vito, Max Hirsch saddled Kentucky II., the winner of the Queens County Handicap, the opening feature of the Queens County Jockey Club today. The opening of the popular old Aqueduct course was an auspicious one, and a big crowd was on hand. For the occasion there were seven races down for decision and the entertainment was excellent. Nine went to the post for the Queens County Handicap, which had a net value to the winner of ,650. With A. C. Swartz Kentucky II. leading the field home, it was Walter J. Salmons Black Panther that raced to second .place, while Harry Payne Whitney-s Tantivy just saved third place from J. L. Hollands Ramoneur. The start was a good one, and Garner at once went out with Ramoneur, as was to be expected with the sprinting quality of the son of Sweep. Kentucky II. raced a couple of lengths back of him, and then came Tantivy and Light Carbine clo ely lapped. Black Panther was far back, but Maiben was keeping him out of trouble and he was ga loping smoothly. Swinging out of the back stretch Ramoneur widened his load and, when Schreiner shook up Kentucky II., the imparted colt drew away from the others until he was leading Bight Carbine, Ingrid and Tantivy, which raced closely lapped by a matter of four lengths. Dolan, winner of the Suburban Handicap, had begun slowly and he was next to last, but it was Black Panther that was last of the field. Not until well into the stretch did Ramoneur show signs of tiring. There Kentucky II. drew up on him readily and was soon past and Garner had gone to a drive to save what part of the purse might be possible. Tantivy was going well on the inside and Black Panther was working his way through on the inside. In the last eighth, where he tired badly, Ramoneur bore out badly, losing ground and while Kentucky II. was home winner by two lengths, a real fight developed for second place, but Black Panther proved best when he was second, only a head before Tantivy, which in turn only nosed out Ramoneur. The others were rather badly strung out, with Buntaris finishing last. Dolan had shown nothing and Ingrid was far back, while Light Carbine, winner of the same race last year, also showed a dull performance. Sam Hildreth brought out the Raneoeas Stables good three-year-old Ariel for the first time in the six and a half furlongs Kingston Handicap and he saddled the winner and a good horse. Incientally, Hildreth did not pick a soft spot for the son of Eternal — Ad: na when he matched him acainst two such good sprinters as Mrs. Graham Fair Vanderbilts Croyden and Bernard Baruchs Happy Argo. They followed him home in the order named.
