June 11.— : Stuyvesant Peabodys Flat Iron raced to a popular victory in the three-quarters mile race attracting1 some of the best sprinters at Arlington Park and featuring a Ladies , Day program. Inquisitor finished in second place, and Shasta Pine third. Flat Iron was a pronounced favorite among the twelve starters. There were some misgivings at one stage of the race about Flat Irons success. This came during the first quarter when Fronk took Flat Iron back after he had been away with a slight advantage. Shasta Pine, Inquisitor and Lady Marie, accompanied by Gaffsman and Alexander Pantages, began dominating the race and alternated in the lead, with Flat Iron seemingly doing his best to keep a prominent position. After half a mile the leaders began tiring, and Flat Iron found his stride. He came a trifle wide into the stretch, but did not diminish his pace and succeeded in getting to the leaders about an eighth out and, under pressure, disposed of them to win handily. Inquisitor fought it out gamely when ridden hard and outstayed Shasta Pine, which in turn outstayed Lady Marie. IMPROVED WEATHER. Improved weather and track conditions prevailed at Arlington Park. The fine weather and the fact that ladies were the guests of the association were factors in the big crowd that viewed the racing. Some of the contests were spectacular and resulted in close finishes. Favorites fared wi.l, Flat Iron and Dark Phantom being pronounced choices to score in their respective races. Sixteen of the cheaper variety started in the first race which was at three-quarters and Paddy Flaherty, one of the outsiders, beginning well and displaying good speed, raced into a substantial lead which enabled him to hold command for the entire distance and win under restraint from Julie H., with Brunswick in third place. The big field resulted in much crowding, the leaders at the start having considerably the best of it. The second race, in which two-year-old maidens started, also brought sixteen to the barrier. The Three Ds Stables Round Up was the victor here. He beat home Christie Flanagan after a spectacular duel, the pair racing on even terms for half a mile. Round Up managed to secure a half-length advantage in the last sixteenth and won by that margin. Christie Flanagan, though tiring, held Boris safe. Round Up was a pronounced favorite. SECOND VICTORY. The Valley Lake Stables Doctor Fred scored his second success in successive starts at Arlington Park when he won in the one mile race, over the inner course in hollow style from Sandy Lady, an outsider, with Barber John, also a neglected one, landing in third place. The winner was at all times in command and disposing of Union Jack in the first three-Quarters, came away to win as his rider pleased. Jennifer and A! Garnet were given considerable attention in the race but neither figured prominently at any stage of the race. Vowed Vengeance, another that was expected to be prominent, failed. Jim Bridger had no chance in the race with the bad ride he got, Jenner taking him completely out of it at the start and keeping him fur back thereafter. J. N. "Camdens Dark Phantom continues to show superb form and was victress over a good band of sprinters that started with her in the fourth race. She was a pronounced favorite and at one stage gave her backers some uneasiness when Break o Morn held the lead and threatened to continue doing so to the end. Dark Phantom made her effort at overtaking Break o Morn after making the lower turn, but the latter, coming over toward the inner rail, forced Dark Phantom back and Hardy thereafter began racing her wide. She finished determinedly and headed Break o Morn a sixteenth out, but had to be roused slightly to shake off Fair Anita. The latters challenge carried her into second place and Bonnie Khayyam also succeeded in overhauling the fast tiring Break o Morn. The sixth race brought a dozen bad actors to the post to race sev n-eighths and when they were dispatched the start found several totally unprepared and they were practically left at the post. General Clinton, having a slight advantage, raced Red Sublette into defeat and outstayed Jeb. The latter succeeded to second place, with Howard just home in time to outstay Brazen. The latter vould have been a big factor had he been away on even terms with the winner. Boom, winner of the Toronto Cup. and Adamas, members of the Belle Farm Stable, have arrived from Woodbine Park.
