FAIRMOUNT PARK NOTES i $ $ COLLINSVILLE, 111., June 12. The five-year-old racer Breast Plate started in the colors of E. K. Bryson for the first time in the third race tojay. Breast Plate was sold by the former owner, K. Pitt, to E. K. Bryson at private sale. Mose Coldblatt, who had wired previously to Fairmount Park inquiring about stall reservations for fourteen horses, regretfully wired again to the officials that it would be impossible for him to transfer his horses here. Jockey Dent Smith was granted a riders license by the Fairmount Park officials and commenced riding here when he was astride Shasta Lad and Thistle Beauty in the fifth and sixth races respectively. Jockey Dent Smith will be connected with the B. Haugh-ton stable. Trainer Tom Moran made his departure to Windsor, Ontario, and shipped the stable of horses of which he is trainer to that point to be raced at the coming meeting at the eld Windsor course. Moran sent his own horses, Trumpet Rock and Dijon Gnome, and aluo those belonging to M. R. Carol, including The Major, Indian Guide, OTurk, Black llawk, Omrah, Coral Boss and others to the Canadian circuit. A small fire broke out in the stables at the track near Barn M, the blaze occurring at about noon. The fire department was summoned and made short work of extinguishing the flames, there being only slight damage and no serious loss incurred. Jockey C. Hooper reported ill at jockeys* quarters today and was forced to cancel all of his engagements for the afternoon. Jockey Sam Smith, a noted rider of two-year-olds ten years ago, is attempting a saddle comeback and had his first mount of the meeting on the two-year-old Petticoat Lane in the second race. The apprentice rider jockey E. Shropshire suffered a bad fall in the opening race when, just after the start, his mount, Billy Doran, was in a jam and stumbled, throwing Shropshire trom the saddle. He received a broken collarbone in his fall. While the injury will stop him from riding for some time, it was fortunate that Shropshire was not more seriously hurt in the melee caused by the- mishap.
