w LATONIA TURF NOTES f $ — _ $ LATONIA, Ky., June 12. Books for the first eight days of the Lincoln Fields summer meeting, which opens July 2, were distributed here this morning. The book, the work of W. H. Shelley, racing secretary, also includes nominations for the six stakes to be run during the twenty-four days racing. Tommy Doyle loaded the Joliet Stables Hot Time and Samaron aboard a van and will send them to Arlington Park tonight. Hot Time has a stake engagement at that track. The stewards held that the suspension of jockey W. Garner incurred during the Churchill Downs meeting was for ten days of racing under their jurisdiction. The ruling eliminated from consideration the racing day that separated the Churchill Downs and Latonia meetings, vith the result that Garner continued on the ground today to complete his suspension. R. L. Baker announced that his three-year-old Col. Bob, which has been showing poor form, would be turned out for the summer with a view to getting him back in top condition for fall racing. Ed Trotter, trainer and developer of the colt Lawley, owned by the Viking Stable, intends to recommend a rest for that son of Sir Martin. The colt is expected to return here from Arlington Park within a few days, and if a let-up in his training is decided upon he will not be a Latonia Derby starter. Jockey W. Garner, who rode Misstep in the American Derby at Arlington Park last Saturday, is of the opinion that the track was too deep to meet the fancy of the Upset colt when he bowed to Toro in that ■take. Garner said that the colt became very tired in his race after making game endeavor to race in the cuppy course. J. N. Camdens Hiram this morning advanced in his preparation for next Saturdays renewal of the Enquirer Handicap when he breezed a mile in 1 :4S?s over the heavy track. It was a very useful move. Danny Connelly was indisposed and declined to accept mounts this afternoon. Lon Jones arrived from Louisville with the three-year-old Cleora and four two-year-olds. Despite the heavy condition of the track, schooling of the horses was resumed this morning so as to prevent any further delay and handicap to horsemen who had been unable to get their charges to the barrier since last week. J. Dolan claimed Colleen O. out of the fourth race Monday from Harned Brothers for ,000. — , A
