Seths Hope took the measure of some good ones that vied with him for honors and, in addition to keeping intact his string of victories, the Parson colorbearer lowered the track record for the local course for three-quarters of a mile when he ran the route in 1 :12 flat, clipping two seconds from the old mark. Second to the winner and beaten two and a half lengths came the Mack Adam stables Blind Cast and in third place was Patricia J., the high weight of the party, while Thestylis and Pledge finished unplaced. Three were withdrawn from the feature, but keen interest remained with the five that started and of the quintet Patricia J. was given the post of honor, but she met her defeat by a better horse and there was no excuse to be offered for her showing. Seths Hope was clearly best, for he was last to get under way and. following his opponents for the first half mile, he gained with amazing speed when permitted to go after the leader and in the final stages, after displacing Blind Cast, reached the end of the race under restraint. Blind Cast, after setting a terrific pace in the first quarter in :22-V; and the half mile in :46%, held on In determined fashion, but was utterly helpless to keep up her fast pace when passed and had to be content with second honors, while Patricia J. was whipped out in an effort to make the first two extend themselves, but she was not good enough. Pledge and Thestylis, after displaying early speed, were both eased up when they had no chance to maintain the fast pace. SIR BARLEY IN FRONT. Sir Barley registered a victory in the initial dash on the program. The winner, under Fishmans urging, displaced the pacemaker. Sun Dance, at the turn into the main stretch and thereafter under severe pressure managed to resist the fast closing rush of Skirmisher, while Silvermire outlasted the fast tiring Sun Dance to beat the latter a length for the small share of the purse. The daily race for province-breds was the second offering of the afternoon and in this test of one mile and seventy yards seven of Canadian parentage answered the call and with the running a surprise resulted when the favorites fared poorly and Davenport, one of the lightly thought of contestants, was the one to emerge victorious in a stubborn drive with Successor. The F. Butler starter reached the end of the race a head before Successor. Atwood was six lengths in the rear of Successor, while Bald Head easily took the measure of Royal Pearl. Twelve good sprinters started in the three-quarters mile third race of the program and with the running came a close finish for premier honors and of the dozen that started My Boy Fried, racing for Joe Edwards, was the one to account for the major portion of purse when, in a fash finish, he wore down Lemnos and Dick Whittington, defeating the latter by a head, while Lemnos dropped hack in the final eighth, but had little trouble in holding third place safe from Obtain. Lemnos was the one to set the pace, while Dick Whittigton was leading the others. This was the order until the stretch turn and here Brunner went to the whip in a vain effort to keep his mount going, but this proved unavailing and Dick Whittington took a small lead inside the last eighth, but he, too, was unable to keep to his task and My Boy Friend was not to be denied. LADBIE BUCK AGAIN. Laddie Buck raced to his second victory at this meeting in addition to rounding out a double for both J. A. Parsons and jockey C. Ralls when he led a good band over the mile and a sixteenth in the fifth race to win in rather easy fashion from H. Payettes Hijo, which finished second, beaten by a length, while the third share of the purse went to Commissioner Cahill, when he led Jim Bell, Rowlands Request and Medius home, the remaining starters in this race. El Canoe came to life suddenly in the one mile and seventy yards sixth race, with the result that his victory came as a distinct sur- prise, in view of his previous efforts here, and in a drive he was able to earn the win- ners share of the spoils when he took the measure of the public choice, Teluride, while Who Knows Me saved the minor share when he outstayed Fast Wind. Eda C. was an- other that received good support, but at no stage of the race was she able to reach a contending position, while Sniper, from whom much was expected, was far back for the entire race. Sakes for the Blue Bonnets meeting closed today and the response from the horsemen was good. *
