OMAHAS MILITARY DAY Fabric Captures Special Race for Army Horses Ridden by Commissioned Officers. OMAHA, Neb., June 27.— This was Military Day at Ak-Sar-Ben Field and the third race, for army horses ridden by commissioned officers from Fort Crook, was the feature attraction. This was won by Faoric, winner of a similar race last year, and ridden by Lieutenant Sawtelle. Far. fa::, ridden by Lieutenant Cleland, finished second, and Happy, ridden by Captain Austin, was third. A large crowd turned out to witness the special feature and a military band provided music and led the horses to the post. Large fields took part in most of the races on the regular program, and short-priced horses and outsiders divided the honors. West, who had the mount on Hand Maiden in this race, was injured when his charge thrw him and dragged him a considerable distance. West received a shaking up and cancelled his remaining engagements. Bonnie Beau was returned victorious in the Nebraska-bred .race, which came second on the program. He showed the way throughout. The Nebraska Derby, with a purse of ,500, will be the feature attraction on Monday, July 2, while a special race for lady riders will be run on Friday, June 29.
