The latter worked his way op gradually and, finishing gamely, was gaining on the winner at the end. LITTLE GYP raced close np to the stretch, then tired. FA1RDALE finished fast. KILKERRY began well and, racing close up to the stretch, responded to a shaking up and, racing into ■ good lead, outfinished CHARIOT. The latter suffered from interference shortly after the start, but worked his way up after getting clear and finished fast. COPPER SON showed mu -h speed from the start and tired, but outfinished COLONEL HENRY. The latter began fast and showed the most speed in going to the stretch, where he tired. HARAMZADA began slowly and raced wide. HOG AN g DANCE racerl fairly well. HAPPY LAD was always outrun. POLLYWOG, close up under restraint for three-quarters, saved ground on the stretch turn and, making a game finish, passed BONNY BASIL and won going away. BONNY BASIL raced close to the early pacemaker and. taking a short lead after reaching the stretch, finished well. ONUP lost ground on the last turn and could not improve her position in the stretch. A heavy rainfall obscured the start and the running until the horses reached the final eighth. It appeared that LIGHTNING JONES had been a prominent factor from the outset and, coming to the final eighth with a good advantage, tired and just managed to outstay MAJOR TOM. The latter finished gamely and was going well at the end. WILD WATERS was tiring badly as she approached the finish. NAISIIAPUR, slow to start and racing wide, began moving up after going five-eightlis and, after being blocked in the stretch, where be swerved, finished with a rush when eear. PANCHIO was prominent for the entire race and, benefitted by a strong ride, outfinished BLUB LARKSPTJK. The latter ran well to the stretch turn, where be dropped back, but came again gamely after going to the inside In the stretch and just failed to get ap for third place. WINDY CITY raced well and held on gamely. VOLTEAK tired in the final drive. BEN MACHREE finished with a rush. KARL EITEL tired. MINOTAUR was always far back. ESSARE ahowed early speed. POST HORN showed fine speed and hela on fairly well when urged hard. RESPOND moved up with a rush approaching the stretch turn, appeared winner when an eighth out, but tired in the closing strides.
