FIFTY YEARS AGO ij I Daily Racing Form was not known. Neither was the automobile. Today there are millions of automobiles the world over, and Daily ; Racing Form is the greatest of all racing publications and j I I Americas turf authority. I i i j Marvelous have been the changes from the one-cylinder J I I "horseless carriage" of the infant days of the auto industry to the i ! six, eight and twelve cylinders of the modern de luxe motor car of I 1929. i i Marvelous, too, have been the changes in Daily Racing Form. j The present-day readers of this greatest of all racing publications j jj would not recognize their favorite turf paper if shown a copy of the early editions. Founded in the Year 1894 I ; Daily Racing Form was founded in 1894. From a modest ji i beginning with handset type and hand-fed Miehle press, Daily i I I Racing Form progressed so rapidly that it was soon necessary j to utilize the speedier linotype machines to set the type and a J ji Cox flatbed press to print the paper. Then came more and more linotype machines and a Duplex rotary press to meet the greatly | increased circulation demands. In keeping with the mechanical j !] improvements, important changes from time to time were made in all departments of Daily Racing Form. ; First Past Performances i j The greatest innovation, as subsequent history proved, was I | the addition of Past Performances to the columns of Daily Racing j j Form. The first Past Performances appeared in the edition of 1 1 July 27, 1905. Prior to that date, only charts, entries, selections 1 1 and current racing news were printed. These Past Performances ; have been constantly improved until now they are well nigh perfect. Charts and Other Data 1 1 The charts of the races as published in Daily Racing Form are original and far superior to all others. The entries, selections i | and work-outs, as well as the many other features found in this jj valuable paper, are on the same high standard as the chart and j I past performances. Ideal Type of Racing Paper |j j One of the most popular features of Daily Racing Form is the j tabloid size of the paper. The columns of the ordinary daily newspapers are too large and cumbersome for the readers of a I highly specialized racing publication, such as is Daily Racing ij Form. Concise, neat, cleanly and clearly printed on the best j grade of paper, Daily Racing Form is the ideal type of a racing paper. You need no brief case to carry it about — it conveniently ! ! fits in vour coat pocket. ij Oldest and Most Progressive Though the oldest of racing papers. Daily Racing Form is the j most progressive. Old in age and wisdom only. Daily Racing i| I I Form is always alert to any possible changes to improve its ; service and value to its host of readers. That is one of the ]j reasons why it has endured and prospered while others failed, j i Costs more, but is worth more. When a Better Racing Paper Is Published ; Daily Racing Form Will Print It Americas Turf Authority | Circulating in the United States. Canada.
