WINNERS IN TORONTO CUP a Sunfire and Display, Last Two Victors, Among Nominations. ♦ Essare, Oa« of Three-Year-Old Eliglbles— Canadian Stables Well Represented in Fixture. a TORONTO, Ont, May 13.— The bast two winners of the 815,000 Toronto Cup are among the forty-nine nominations for the renewal at the Ontario Jockey Club Spring meeting at Woodbine on May 21 Victoria Day tha sixth day of the meeting. They are Sunfire, owned by R. T. Wilson, winner last year, and Display, owned by Walter J. Salmon, which was first past the post in 1027. Sunfire as a three-year-old carried 102 pounds and Display, a four-year-old, carried 120 pounds in his winning effort. Both horses are being pointed for this years renewal and have already been to the races. In the Dixie Handicap at Pimlioo Display, carrying 124 pounds, ran third to Diavolo and Victorian after a smashing race to overcome interference in the large fied of eighteen. He came from fifteenth position to finish in the money, beaten five lengths by the winner. Sunfire, carrying 110 pounds, finished in seventh place. Two others in the same field, eligibles for the Toronto Cup, were A. C. Schwartzs Sortie, which finished fourth, and the Wild Rose Farm Stables Dowagaic, which finished thirteenth, A number of other candidates for this years Toronto Cup have been to the races this Spring and the prsopects are for a large, formidable and well-matched field on race day. GENIE AMONG THOSE NAMED. The most promising three-year-old nominated is the Jacques Stables Essare, a bay colt by Light Brigade — Wistaria, a Preak-ness-Derby candidate. He won his last two starts at Jamaica. Other three-year-olds among the nominations are Glen Wild, Harvard, Butter John, winner of the Grey Stakes at Woodbine last fall and a winner this year, Belle of Govans, Equation, Mud, Letalone, Windswept, Annapolis, Brown Wizard, Go To and African. Gifford Cochrans Genie, the disappointing favorite for the Coffroth at Tijuana, is also among the nominations. Five winners entered are Crossco, Mowlee, Son o Battle, Adamas and Patricia J., most of which have raced over the Woodbine track. ENTRIES RECEIVED TOO LATE. The Canadian stables will be well represented. The Seagram Stable has nominated Gaffsman, Edisto, Sir Harry and Eugene fci., but Solace, the winter star, is conspicuous by his absence. J. E. Smallman will be represented by Clear Sky and Viscose ; W. H. Wright, by Royal Watch, and the Mount Royal Stable by the three-year-old Calm, frequent winner last year. The only Canadian-bred horse in the race is the six-year-old Minerologist, owned by Frank W. Callaghan, the Toronto lawyer. The following entries were received too late at the Ontario Jockey Club offices and are therefore not included in the list : Victoria Stakes — J. Simon Healy, Heavenly Music ; J. P.
