ROYAL SABLE, hard ridden from the start to gain a brief lead, lost command momentarily rounding the turn, came again with good courage and in a stubborn drive just managed to get up in the closing strides. JUG OF GOLD, a keen factor throughout, finished with good courage and was wearing the winner down gradually. IMPERTINENT showed a good performance all the way. PHILIPS FIRST, hustled into early contention, came with good speed for the final struggle, wore the leaders down steadily and was going away at the end. PERRIEHON followed elose up, gained a brief lead, but was unable to withstand the winner through the final sixteenth. KAFFA worked her way np steadily and finished fast. KIA showed a good race. PLEDGE tired badly after moving into a good lead FRETWELL raced wide all the way. McAULIFFE showed no speed. SINGLE PIP, in nearest puisuit of the pacemaker but badly outrun for three-quarters, continued at an even pace and, catching the winner tiring in the final stages, withstood a drive to get up in the last sixteenth. MAD SKETCH sprinted into a commanding lead, was shaken up approaching the far turn, but quit badly in the final stages. PAUL began quickest of all, but lacked speed. CH1CSAL tad a rough race.
