T OMAHA TURF NOTES | # 1 OMAHA, Neb.. June 10. W. T. Studebaker claimed Field Marshal for 00 and W. Mikel claimed Compilor for ,200. Charles F. Roe and George W. Schilling, who have been making a tour of the eastern tracks in the interests of the coming meeting at Butte, Mont., arrived yesterday and secured many good stables to ship to the new track at the conclusion of the present meeting. Among those now racing at Omaha who will ship directly to Butte, are : Alexander Pantages, C. B. Irwin, L. T. White-hill, Midnight Follies Stable. Several other stables will ship to Winnipeg and go from that point to Butte, where a twenty-five day meeting gets under way on July 13. Leslie Stable recently claimed Subway Tube for ,000. The funeral of S. Ballenger, veteran horseman who passed away recently, was held Friday and was well attended. The turfman suffered a stroke recently and never recovered. He was a real pioneer of the western turf, having been, in turn, jockey, trainer and owner. Ballenger had one horse. All Shot, at Omaha, and this animal has been turned over to his clotwat friend, J. Pelter.
