The latter offered opposition and finished determinedly in the final drie after saxn.g much ground, THE DETECTIVE had good speed for seven eighths and tired rapidly after being overtaken. FRENCH LASS, in close eiuarters soon after the start, was given a breathing spell on the turn, came to the outside and made a determined effort at the final eighth post, but was ne»t good enough. HIGHLAND CAPTAIN bad good speed for half a mil? and held on gamely. DICK WHlTTINe;TON was outrun. SARATOGA MAJE began swiftly, but dropped back at onee and was never a factor. IRONMASTER quit. SWEET I.A-CKUSE had good speed in the early stages, shook off KITTY PITCHER and continued in game f.i-!.,on when the winner challenged. CREPE SATIN, far out of it in the early stages, finished fast M. MICELLA came fast in the final stages. AL KRIPP closed a big gap from a slow beginning. KITTY PITCHER tired. FRETWELL, alow to begin, was allowed to settle in hi9 stride, came with belated speed in the closing stages and, catching the leaders inside the final eighth, was up in the final twenty jards. STAR GOLD moved to the leaders with a rush when ready, assumed the lead, but was unable to stall off the. winner. EMPLETTE lost ground to reach the leaders but tired near the end. VOLT raced well.
