TAKE YOUR TIME FAILURE — » Favorite Unplaced in Orpheum Theatre Cup at Montreal. ♦ Noine Scores With Buntaris Second and Pel- legrino Third — Ererytlme Makes Good in Fourth Rare. • MONTREAL, Que., June 21.— The Orpheum Theatre Cup Race a claiming affair over one mile, the feature attraction of the Montreal Jockey Clubs program at Blue Bonnets today, had its disappointments in Take Your Time and Black Friar, both well backed starters and dividing the support of the play-day, had its disappointments in Take Your Time had the call at post time and ran the better race of the two, but neither was able to share in the division of the purse, the winner turning up in Noine, which led home Buntaris by two lengths, while the latter in turn showed the way to Pellegrino. Take Your Time was ti:e pacemaker from the start and showed Mie way until almo within the shadow of the finish, Noine at all times being his closest pursuer and forcing the favorite along at a fast pace. The pressure of Noine was responsible for the defeat of Take Your Time and when it appeared certain that he would finish in the money he quit unexpectedly, and Noine, Buntaris and Pellegrino all raced past him to finish first, second and third. The Seagram Stable furnished a surprise when Jewel Kit galloped home an easy winner of the opening race. It is only fair to say that Jewel Kit went to the post the other day apparently in just as good condition as he did this afternoon. There was a change in riders, Stretton being substituted in place of Zateslo, who had the mount in his previous start. On that occasion Zateslo was busy taking back most of the race and under these tactics Jewel Kit raced far back most of the journey. In todays race, after beginning on the outside. Jewel Kit moved up fast and passed the others with ease. Making a wide turn entering the stretch, he disposed of opposition without effort to draw away into a five lengths lead in the final eighth. Kauri was second, half a length in front of Wilhelmina, which, in turn, beat Cannonade a head for third place. The favorite, Everytime, made good in convincing fashion in the fourth race, a contest over five and a half furlongs for three-year-olds and over. Ridden by Kurtsinger, the son of High Time, which carried the colors of J. P. White, followed Ironmaster for the first quarter, moved up fast thereafter and, assuming the lead on the lower turn, rapidly increased his advantage and at the finish was under restraint with a lead of two lengths over French Lass. The latter was far in advance of the others, the majority of which tired badly in the strehmh. Highland Captain finished third, while Dick Whittington, Saratoga Maje and Ironmaster was racing almost at a walk in the last sixteenth, their riders evidently realizing the hopelessness of their task.
