The Audley Farm Stables crack two-year-old Gallant Knight, which trained so brilliantly for the Cincinnati Trophy, was forced to pass up that engagement due to an injury sustained shortly after his fast trial Wednesday afternoon. The colt suffered a severe wrench and may be out of training for several weeks. Cernice Van, the promising two-year-old owned by A. II. Dressel, Chicago banker, has been turned over to Dan Lehan by T. la Pierce and will be raced at the Arlington 1ark and Hawthorn meetings. 1ierce is returning two other racers ownc-d by Mr. Dressel to Lexington, where they will summer. At Lexington Fierce will break five yearlings, also the property of the Chica-goan. The Harned brothers today purchased the good performer Drown Flash from the K. II. Stable, represented by Grover Hughes. The price was not given out. Brown Flash ha.-i a number of engagements at Arlington 1ark, to where the entire Harned stable will be shipped next week. Jockey Danny Connelly contemplated going to Fmpire City after the local season and will ride as a free lance. Following that meeting he may return to Dade Park. Jockey A. Paseuma was indisposed and declined to accept mounts today. J. R. R. -spess departed last niht for St. Louis, where he was called on a matter pertaining to the transfer of the Fait mount Park track to New Orleans interests. II. I*. Headley, a Latonia visitor today. visited the steward..-, and lodged a claim for first money in the race won by Lady liossip, under the colors of Mrs. J. L. Dran-non, provided the hitters claim of the mentioned filly is disallowed. The claim has been pretested by the racing firm of Laffoon and V. is.-r. from whom the filly was claimed on June 18. Headley s Possie finished second to Lady Gossip in the race she won und. -r the Prannon colors on June 24. Headh y contends that if the claim is thrown out. Lady Uossip was not properly registered for her race on June 34. and therefore did not qualify to earn any part of the pursa.
