FOALS AT CARRUTHERS FARM Managing Director of Arlington Park Has Some Fine Young Stock at Kentucky Stud. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 1C Foals at the Kentucky stud of Roy Carruthers, managing director of Arlington Park, Chicago, are a brown filly by Pagan Pan Jaganath and a chestnut filly by Ballot Alice Warfield. Wonderful One, a daughter of Eternal and the phenomenally fast June Bug, is expected to foal any day to Paicines. The Alice Warfield filly is a half sister to Warfield, Our Alice and Annie Lyle, being a daughter of Orison and Natasha, she a daughter of St. Maxim and Belle of the Day, by Faraday. Orison was a son of Hamburg and Vespers. There is a yearling colt from Alice Warfield by Thunderer, brother to Regret, himself a Futurity winner and the sire of Worlhmore. Jaganath is a young daughter of Juggernaut and Fusccap, she by Lemberg, which Carruthers bought at Newmarket a few years ago. The Pagan Pan filly is her second born. There is a yearling colt by Last Reveille, he a son of Ultimus and Princess Orma, from her at the Carruthers farm. Pagan Pan, a son of Luke McLuke and Black Brocade, is a brother to Mr. Sponge, Shuffle Along, Jean Bowdre dam of Jean Valjean and some others and the sire himself of many winners, among them last seasons two-year-olds Murmuring Pines, Purple Robe, Pani-vana and Paquette. Last Reveille is a. superb breeder. An attractive two-year-old there is a son of Pagan Pan, from Slamerkin, she a daughter of Sarmatian and Marie Frances. This one yields to no budding racer anywhere in the matter of blood. Sarmatian, a son of Sar-danapale, French wonder horse of 1914, whose career of victory was cut abruptly short by the German invasion of France and Belgium, was neyer raced. Sarmatiansdam, Mousse des Bois, a daughter of-Ajax and Medeola, is of the racing and producing family of Sweep. Pennant, Transvaal, John P. Grier, Oceanic. Novelty, Iron Mask, Light Brigade and Sun Briar. William Woodward, vice-chairman of The Jockey Club, exploited Sarmatian for a while at his Belair Stud of Southern Maryland, Americas, oldest thoroughbred nursery. There Sarmatian sired a dazzling sprinter called Sarmaticus, also Socrates and some others. Marie Frances, dam of "Slamerkin, is, or was, a half-sister of Lady Amelia, another great sprinter and Lady Amelia foaled Lading, which, in turn, produced Ladkin, conqueror of Epinard in the second of the international races that brought that French middle distance champion overseas in the autumn of 1924, over the mile at Aqueduct. Crusader, Scapa Flow, Spot Cash, Salvidere, Whisk Broom, Single Foot, Canter and about a hundred other genuine and near stars are, or were, of Slamerkins tfibe. Paicines, prospective sire of Wonderful Ones prospective foal, is a son of Sunstar and Dreamy II., a half-brother to War Cloud and Bit of White and sire of Ervast, Sir Peter and others. He had twenty-nine winners in last seasons racing.
