Busy Works a Mile and an Eighth at Lexington $ LEXINGTON, Ky.. April 16. Kentucky Derby candidates came in for much useful preparation today and much interest attached to the one mile and an eighth trial of J. B. Respess Busy. He traversed the long course in 1:56, handily, and thus took rank as the first of the Derby .nominees here to work that distance. Trainer Art Goldblatt had the son of Busy American out early and drilled him without Bold Robin, which accompanied him in a majority of his gallops. He was timed in :26 for the opening quarter ; in :50 for the half mile and, after running three-quarters in 1:16, finished a mile in 1:42. J. R. Devereaux Uncle Matt was sent three-quarters in 1 :15, breezing, and showed no ill effects from recent more severe assignments. He went the quarter in :23 and ran a half mile in :49. Ashtabula, M. J. Conleys candidate, was hard held at every stage in negotiating a mile in 1 :41, and Luther Silvers Uncle Luther breezed a like route in 1:56. Dark Entry and Ante Belum, among the eligibles of H. P. Headley, breezed a half mile each in :52 and :49, respectively, and the Keeneland Studs Silver Cord and Jean Latitte were timed in 1 :16 and 1 :18 for three-quarters. Silver Cord worked under strong reserve and ran the quarter in :24, and half mile in :4S.
