ST.- LEGER, FAVORITE, WINS SPECIAL CABLEGRAM. NOTTINGHAM, England, April -16. St. Leger, carrying the silks of Lord Derby, won the Benieck Maiden Plate here Tuesday. The four-year-old son of Gainsborough and Tranquil finished a neck in front of -P. W. Carrs Persevere. Fairy Story, racing for King George V.. was third in the field of eight that met over the mile and a half course. St. Leger was an odds on choice, being quoted at 4 to 6. The prices on Persevere and Fairy Story were 100 to 6, and 5 to 1, respectively.
