LEXINGTON TURF NOTES a LEXINGTON. Ky., April 19. John S. Milliken, speaker of the Kentucky House of Representatives, was among Fridays visitors from Louisville. Jockey Carl Meyer and R. T. Watts, his contract employer, motored from Churchill Downs. Earl Pool, veteran jockey, whose right knee was fractured in a fall here last fall, is slowly mending. He arrived from Cincinnati and will remain for the season. C. W. Moore, who is racing the big stable he wintered here during the current meeting, expects to ship from here to Fairmount Park and hopes to get away shortly after the close. C. AV. Hay, general manager of Washington Park, who has been at his Scotland farm for the past week, returned for todays racing and goes to Chicago next week. John C. Schank and Charles W. Bidwill, prominent figures in Chicago racing, left for Louisville and were to accompany Col. M. J. Winn to Chicago tonight. Colonel Winn, busy in the plans for the coming Churchill Downs meeting and Kentucky Derby, is returning to Louisville within a few days. Mose Goldblatt motored from Louisville where he has the main division of the Harry Payne Whitney stable in his charge and saddled his starters here this afternoon. It was understood here today that jockey H. Mertz has affiliated with the Xalapa Farm Stable of Edward F. Simms and will accompany that establishment to New York next week. The Xalapa colors made their first appearance here in some time when Abeth carried them in the opening race this afternoon. George Brooks, trainer for Edward Cebrian, shipped two two-year-olds from Churchill Downs to J. S. Barbees farm to be turned out and took up a like number of three-year-olds, which wintered at the Bar-bee establishment. Edward Haughton, acting for Mrs. Payne Whitney, today took second call on the services of jockey K. Russell for the remainder of the Lexington meeting. Russell is under contract to H. P. Whitney. Master Rose and Your Play, the property of Mrs. Kirby Ramsey, were vanned from Douglas Park, Louisville. Trainer Ramsey motored up from Louisville to saddle the former in her engagement Friday. Ramsey has three other horses quartered at the Falls City course. Jake Lowenstein motored from Louisville to arrange stabling accommodations for the Royal Stables Florida Gold and Green Isle, which he will ship here Saturday. Leah Jane, the property of M. G. Goode, which George Land has quartered at Douglas Park, was vanned over Friday morning. Land also brought two horses, the property of the Graceland stable.
