PAGAN LADDIE saved much ground during the opening three-eighths, went to the outside approaching the stretch and, responding gamely, rapidly worked his way tip and outstayed GENGHIS KHAN. The latter, in close quarters during the early stages, saved ground in the stretch and closed resolutely. LADY WITT worked her way to the lead on the outside, drew clear in the stretch and tired. VICKSBURG. well up, faltered after reaching the final eighth. MERIWICK showed speed and tired. PERFECT MODEL tired. PARTICIPATE quit. JOAN K. was done after reaching the stretch. The latter moved up fast from the start, closed resolutely under brisk pressure and was gaining on the winner. BEWITCHING EYES raced forwardly and held on fairly well. THUNWIN raced well. DIRECTLY was on the outside throughout. LI LA lost ground. IRRITATION caused much crowding when she swerved sharply to the inside on the turn. MATTHEWS crossed over shortly after the start, worked his way up rapidly in the final half aud closed fast. HIRAM KELLY showed an even performance under a strong ride. ST. THISTLE FYRN, well ridden and reserved off the fast early pace, responded strongly when called upon and, working her way to the front, held on gamely for a lucky win. NIATO, probably much the best and taken back repeatedly, went to the outside after being blocked on the stretch turn and, closing witli fine speed, was rapidly overtaking the winner. PATRICIA MARIAN showed speed from the start, gamely raced PIGEON HOLE into defeat and faltered in the final eighth. YAM TOY closed gamely. DEVON had no mishaps. STARS AND BARS, shuffled back at the first turn, failed to respond during the opening five-eighths and tired after offering a mild challenge entering the stretch. PRINCESS MARGARET had no mishaps. RED RIDER rushed into the lead and, vigorously indulged while making the pace, quit badly in the stretch. HARAMZADA and GIBBYS CHOICE quit. Overweight Princess Margaret, 2 pounds.
