BOSTWICK AND MATE LEAD ♦ Head Money Winning Divisions at Pimlico Spring Meeting. « L. M. Severson and Paul Bunyan Second Among Money Winning Owners and Horses — Guerra Tops Riders. ♦ Pimlicos meetings are always fruitful for owners of winning horsea, and this years spring racing at that point was no exception to the rule for the management, during the twelve days of racing, distributed 09,020, a daily average of 7,418.33. The meeting began on April 27 and ended May 9. A total of eighty-four races were decided, including the Preakness Stakes, the first of the rich three-year-old specials of the year, and the famous Dixie Handicap. A. C. Bostwick, through the victory of Mate in the Preakness, was the leading money winning owner, with 8,225 in winnings. That was the exact value of the Preakness Stakes. L. M. Severson, whose Paul Bunyan won the Dixie Handicap, was second with 5,425, and W. J. Salmon third with 1,070. K. E. Hitt did well when his horses won 0,900. Mate, of course, was the leading money winning horse. The winner of the Preakness Stakes is always Pimlicos leading money winning horse. The same stands for the winner of the Dixie Handicap, the combined value of all the other stakes not being enough to overcome the Preakness and Dixie Handicap winners, and this Paul Bunyan was second to Mate. J. Guerra, the Spanish rider who scored with five of his mounts on Preakness Day, led the riders with a total of eight winners. L. Schaefer was second with seven, which is to say he was tied for second with A. Robertson and R. Workman, the Whitney riders who rode the same number of winners. Five steeplechase riders scored a victory. They were W. Hunt, J. Lambert, F. Slate, F. Thorndyke and L. Wren. T. Rodrock led the trainers, saddling six winners during the meeting. Many of the trainers saddled two and three winners. Following are the owners whose horses won ,000 or more: Owner. 1st. 2nd. 3rd. Amt. Bostwick, A. C 1 0 0 8,225 Severson, L M 1 0 0 15,425 Salmon, W.
