LAT0NIA TURF NOTES t s i LATONIA, Ky., June 1. Chatson and Aristocrat, the property of H. Massey, arrived from Churchill Downs. E. C. Anthony, trainer of the horses, proceeded on to Detroit, where he will confer with Mr. Massey regarding the breaking of the twelve yearlings now quartered at W. F. Knebelkamps Jefferson County breeding farm. J. B. Respess received word that the six horses he sent to Bainbridge arrived and unloaded without mishap. At the conclusion of the Bainbridge meeting the stock, in charge of A. M. Jacobus, will remain in I Ohio for the Thistle Downs racing. Busy, considered of the first flight among the three-year-old division last year, is training nicely and will be seen under colors during the Latonia meeting, according to owner Respess. Edward F. Simms, master of Xalapa Farm in Bourbon County and also owner of the racing stable of that name, was a visitor at Latonia. After an inspection of the Respess horses, quartered at the Milldale course, he paid a visit to Mr. Respess Highland Farm near Walton, Ky., and then went on to his Xalapa Farm. Mr. Simms is sending fifty yearlings to Saratoga for the August sales, reserving only a few for racing. Col. R. L. Baker, whose horses are here in charge of Smith G. Baker, motored from his home at Lexington for an inspection of the stock. He returned to the Blue Grass city Saturday night, but intends coming back the latter part of next week to remain until the close of the meeting. Joe G. Chinn informed track superintendent Charles Nolte that he would arrive the first of the week with the six two-year-olds he is training for M. N. Porter. He also stated that he had disposed of the half interest he held in the good three-year-old Running Water to R. L. Carrick. Running Water will be shipped here, but owner Carrick has not selected a trainer. Johnny Daniels is awaiting advices from Charles Bacharach, owner of the Southland Stable, before deciding on shipping Playtime to Washington Park for his engagement in the Francis Peabody Memorial Handicap.
