OSWEGO FOR AMERICAN DERBY Barring accident. Gallaher and Combs diminutive but fleet and stout-hearted Oswego will have his first important engagement of the year when he contests the renewal of the 0,000 added American Derby at Washington Park on June 20. Illness forced him out of the Kentucky Derby, but he has not missed a work for some weeks and is coming up to the Washington Park race in fine fashion. Last Saturday he breezed a mile over a muddy track and around the "dogs" at Washington Park in 1:53. Oswego is among the best sons of Cherokee, the eleven-year-old son of Sweep and Fontarabia, which is having much success at the stud. Cherokee, owned by Gallaher and Combs, had ten juvenile winners last year and his remarkable success has attracted the attention of breeders throughout the country. He was bred to forty mares this year. . , • — — —
