ILLINOIS OAKS SATURDAY Cousin Jo and Other Crack Fillies to Start in 0,000 Added Race at Washington Park. HOMEWOOD, 111., June 1.— The 0,000 added Illinois Oaks, one of the most attractive and important of the Washington Park stakes, will have its renewal over one mile and one-eighth next Saturday when one of the largest fields in the record of the fixture goes to the post. The starting array will be headed by Cousin Jo, Charles Nuckols sterling daughter of Stimulus and winner of the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs, and her company will include all the leading western three-year-old fillies and several stars from among the easterners in that division. Cousin Jo is scheduled to make her first appearance under colors since the Kentucky Oaks when she starts in the Lilies of the Valley Purse, at three-quarters, one of the Tuesday features at the Homewood track, and in engaging the older Flimsy, Lady Fingers and Sister Zoe. she may encounter some real trouble in attempting to capture the race for her third win in three starts this year. Fiala and Sun Bun complete the field for the sprint. Sunny Lassie, Mrs. William Ziegler, Jr.s good daughter of Sun Flag and Scotland Yet, looms a strong contender for the Illinois Oaks, and such others as Silver Beauty, Town Limit, Betty Derr, Lady Dean, Plumage, Chene, Outburst, Doris Jean, Martha Jones, Anne Arundel, In Haste, Thistle Billie and Overlay are among the probable staters. In its first running back in 1926 the race went to Black Maria with Inbounds second and Spanish Star third. Yeddo was returned triumphant in 1927. defeating Mary Jane, Patricia Marian and others and while not run in 1928 the fixture provided the now dead Rose of Sharon, another opportunity to prove her high worth as a three-year-old in accounting for the 1929 revival. She defeated Current, Altitude and others to take down the purse of ,425. while Snow-flake earned ,540 in winning last years renewal.
