DARK THORN, steadied behind GOLDEN STORM until straightening out in the stretch, took the lead on the outside of the latter and drew away to win with speed to spare. GOLDEN STORM took the lead in the first eighth, saved ground throughout, but was no match for the winner. JUSTA SHADE, kicked while ©n the way to the post, went well tor three eighths, but was unable to keep pace with the leaders thereafter. MAGICAL IMAGE made up ground in the last quarter. KHORASAN. slow to settle into his best stride, was outrun early, then moved up gamely on the turn, was put under punishment entering the stretch and. wearing down REPROOF in the last thirty yards, was slowly drawing away at the end. REPROOF shook off TRICE in the first eighth and, opening up a good lead, could not withstand the winner. DANCING MACK, outrun early, closed with a rush in the stretch. TRICE showed early speed and tired in the stretch when put under urging. BARTER showed a flash of speed in the first quarter. The others were never serious factors. Overweight — Solicena, 3 pounds. REFINER, away fast, disposed of STEP OF TIME, drew away into a long lead and was never threatened. VARSITY, a factor from the start, held on gamely. FREETHINKER suffered interference on the back stretch, but closed stoutly. MASTER BOBBIE, shuffled back at the start, closed a big gap. STEP OF TIME showed good speed, but tired. ZEAL went to the front after going five eighths, opened up a good lead, but barely held on long enough to withstand the closing bid of GUILFORD. The latter, under restraint early, came with a belated rush in the closing eighth and would probably have been the winner in another stride. FLORIDA GOLD went to the front rounding the first turn, fought it out for the lead with the winner going down the back stretch, but tired in the closing test. GLEE CLUB, under restraint during the first seven-eighths, failed to improve his position thereafter. DOCTOR T. made up ground during the last three eighths. STORM was rated behind the early pace and. moving up on the far turn, closed gamely to wear down SOLACE. The latter took the lead going to the first turn, was steadied along until the stretch, where he was displaced by the winner. BAD NEWS BOB forced the pace, challenged gamely, but tired. BERBER was unable to menace the leaders. VOLTEAR loomed up dangerously leaving the back stretch. SUN HATTER was practically eliminated at the start when he broke into the side of the stall gate. The latter went to the outside entering the stretch and closed with a rush. FAIRDALE set the early pace and held on well. MOON PHASE raced forwardly throughout. THEONE tired. MONTANARO, rated off the pace, was carried wide when WELLET bore out entering the stretch, closed stoutly through the final eighth and was going away at the end. WELLET, racing in good form, disposed of RED BRIAR before leaving the back stretch, continued determinedly, but was not good enough for the winner. MINE SWEEPER went well and held on gamely in the drive. EAGER PLAY made up ground through the stretch after being outrun early. RED BRIAR showed good early speed, but tired.
