3 ■, 1 1. ;, POST AND PADDOCK ENTRIES Include Fall Apple and Other Winners of Two -Year-Old Stakes Run This Year. Winners of two-year-old stakes since the beginning of the year in the Post and Paddock, six furlongs, which will gross between 0,000 and 0,000 at Arlington Park August 1, are Fall Apple, Universe, Polonaise, Irenes Bob, Uncovered, Sharp Thoughts, Proteus, Princess Ivre, Doctor Happy, Pink, Air Pilot, Election Day and Nevada Queen. Fall Apple, victor in the Aberdeen, at Havre de Grace, which netted 3,850, and the Keene Memorial at Belmont Park, which paid ,075, is named by Cornelius Vander-bilt Whitney. A son of Pennant and Eden, and in the division of the Whitney stable trained by young Fred Hopkins, the developer of Equipoise last season, Fall Apple is the leading two-year-old winner to date. Universe, which whipped Fall Apple in the nineteenth Youthful at Jamaica, last seasons revival of which Equipoise won and then lost to Vander Pool through disqualification, is nominated by Thomas M. Cassidy of New York. Fall Apple turned the tables on Universe in the Keene Memorial, and, besides defeated Irenes Bob, destined winner of the Juvenile, which paid 4,500. Irenes Bob, a son of The Turk and Bobs Mary, is owned by James Edward Gaffney of New York. In the Juvenile Irenes Bob whipped Universe. Gaffney, a millionaire New York contractor, had a famous race horse named for him more than a quarter of a century ago, to wit: Jim Gaffney, which in the past twenty years has sired many celebrated racers, notably Vigil Dodge, Gaffsman. War Pennant, Sennings Park, Edict and Beatrice. Alexander Pantages nominated Sharp Thoughts, winner of the second Agua Cali-ente Futurity; Princess Ivre, nominated by Joseph Leiter of Chicago, won a Hinata at Lexington; Doctor Happy, named by Mrs. C. E. Simmons, won a Louisiana Juvenile at New Orleans; Pink won the Nursery Stakes at Miami, under the jacket of the Tennessee Stable; Air Pilot won the Pimlico Homebred for Walter J. Salmon; Election Day won the Pimlico Nursery for Mrs. Katherine Elkins Hitt; Nevada Queen won the Senorita and three other races at Agua Caliente for Marion Hollins; Uncovered won the Bouquet at Belmont Park for J. H. Louchheim; Polonaise won the Fashion at Belmont Park for William R. Coe. Polonaise is a daughter of Pompey, Americas crack two-year-old in 1925. Nevada Queen suffered her first defeat at Washington Park May 27, in a dash of five furlongs. At Sunrise won, with Princess Ivre second. Proteus, a son of Infinite and Our Option, has won seven of his ten races. Well Heeled, an Illinois-bred son of Royal Canopy and Golden Heels, and a winner at Belmont Park, is a nomination of John Hertz. One of Mrs. Helen Hay Whitneys eligibles— Es- pinaca — won twice at Belmont Park. Gen- eral Lejeune, another Belmont Park win- ner, is a nomination of Preston M. Burchs. At Sunrise Was nominated by Edward Beale McLean. Def ier, a sorrel son of Bud Lerner, and still another Belmont Park winner, was named by Harrv F. Sinclair.
