FORT ERIE STAKE PROGRAM Hotel Statler Handicap and the General Brock Handicap Leading Prizes of Meeting. FORT ERIE, Ont., June 10.— Secretary Eugene W. Bury has prepared a most attractive book for the Niagara Racing Associations 1931 inaugural meeting, July 4 to 11, inclusive. Books are now out and are being distributed among the horsemen. Indications point to a most successful meeting. The list of features is an attractive one, including as it does the renewal of the Hotel Statler Handicap, a race for three-year-olds and upward, at a mile and a sixteenth. This event carries with it ,500 in added money in addition to a handsome silver cup, an annual donation from the Statler Hotel management. For the opening day the General Brock Hotel Handicap will feature, this race being over the mile and sixteenth route, and it also carries an added value of ,500, in addition to a cup. this also a gift from the management of the General Brock Hotel. Other features for the first day include the Maple, a race for two-year-olds, purse ,000, in addition to five other events with no purse worth less than ,000. On the second day the renewal of the W. M. German Purse, an event for Canadian-bred horses, will be the headliner. This event is worth ,500, and is for three-year-olds and over. In addition to this event of the second day, the Welland, a purse of ,000, at six furlongs, will be decided, besides the usual five other events. On the third day the leading race of the afternoon will be the renewal of the H. M. Gerrans Handicap, an event named in honor of a prominent Buffalo man. This contest will be run over the mile and seventy yards route, and is worth ,500. On this day the Hotel Buffalo Purse will also be decided, the horses going a mile and seventy yards in this race. For the fourth day the Erie Downs, a race at five and a half furlongs, with a purse of ,000, will be run, while the outstanding feature of the afternoon will be the running of the Hotel Touraine Purse, with a value of ,500, this contest being over the mile and seventy yards route. Features for the fifth day will be the Westbrook, valued at ,500, at a mile, for three-year-olds, and the Crystal Beach, a race at a mile, for three-year-olds and over. On the sixth day the Amigari Purse, valued at ,000, and the renewal of the John P. Mclnerney Handicap, at six furlongs, for three-year-olds and over, will feature. Judging by the way early stable applications are coming in there will be plenty of horses here to insure a successful meeting.
