RUMOR LONG HORSES UNDER INVESTIGATION ! i s AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Jan. 12. It was rumored at the Agua Caliente track this afternoon that the horses of Baron Long were under investigation because of the recent two-year-old race, which was won by Linden Tree. Mr. Long, who admitted that he wagered on Linden Tree in eastern books, had a two-horse entry of Sir Val and Don Alonzo in that particular race. He bet on his entry and other horses in the same race at the track to boost the price on Linden Tree, and in a public statement admitted that he had won over ,000 on the race. When questioned the stewards refused to acknowledge or deny the rumor, stating that they had nothing to say at the present time. Mr. Long could not be located early this afternoon.
