VLADIMIR began fast, lost much ground early, easily increased his advantage on the turn, then tired after going five-eighths, yet failed to last. BELEVEITORNOT began slowly, saved ground while working his way up and was in close quarters near the end. POLYFON was weakly ridden, but closed well. WEST VIRGINIA- quit. SIR JOHN K. raced unnecessarily wide under a poorly judged ride and dropped far back entering the stretch, but came again in the final stages. ST. JIM, unable to keep up, saved ground and closed ground in the stretch, but could not get up. BRIMSEY began slowly. TRYING quit.
