WASHINGTON PARK STAKES Last Day for Owners to Enter Their Horses in American Derby and Other Fixtures. This is the last day on which nominations may be made for the American Derby and other stakes offered by the Washington Park Jockey Club for its 1932 meeting, which is scheduled to continue from May 30 until June 25. The -big event naturally is the American Derby, now run over the mile and a quarter route instead of the mile and a half, as was the custom until after the 1927 running. It has an added money value of 0,000, like the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, and its running date affords an excellent return match for those that met in the earlier prizes. The American Derby was revived at the present Washington Park in 1926 and the prize that year went to E. R. Bradleys Boot to Boot, which defeated Walter J. Salmons Display, the winner of the Preakness. The winners since that renewal have been Hy-dromel, Toro, Windy City, Reveille Boy and Mate. Mate is the only winner of one of the other big specials to repeat in the American Derby, for he also won the Preakness of last year. Besides the American Derby there are two stakes of 0,000 added, to be closed, the Illinois Oaks and the Francis S. Peabody Memorial Handicap, at a mile and a quarter, and four other prizes of ,000 added each, which makes the list a truly attractive one for the meeting. The response that has come to other stakes that have already been closed leaves no doubt of the various prizes filling liberally.
