The latter, quick to get going, crossed to the inside entering the stretch, could not reach the leader under vigorous urging, but was best of the others. SYM JACK tired slightly in the closing sixteenth. FRIEND JOHN moved up fast in the first eighth and showed a good performance. GAY WORLD could not get up. DICK JIORRIS, hustled clear in the first quarter, showed good speed, lost ground on the stretch turn and held on well, but was overmatched. BROAD MEADOWS, close up from the start, lost ground and tired in the stretch. BLACK TYRONE quit in the final three-sixteenths. CHECKERBERRY was done after a half mile.
