J TROPICAL PARK TURF NOTES T $ -4 C. Smith, a club house visitor, was much impressed with Tropical Park. Skyway pulled up. lame after being breezed Monday morning, which accounted for his withdrawal in the seventh race. J. I. Smith, manager of H. Teller Archibalds racing interests, reports the arrival of two colts at the Archibald farm and Mid-dleburg, Va. Both are by Westy Hogan. My Dandys leg filled up a bit after being breezed Monday morning and he was excused from starting in the Gables Handicap. Before the races Monday afternoon steward Tom Thorp and starter Wingfield went into the jockey room and warned the boys against rough riding. They were told that any infraction of this rule would result in their license being canceled. Bill Eckert of the Pinkerton forces, who had charge of the jockeys room at Hialeah, is employed in a like capacity at Tropical Park. The Florida Racing Commission granted a trainers license to the Maryland horseman, Paul Codd. Earl Sande hit the road Monday morning which makes it appear as though he may be seen in the saddle again. Joe Morris shipped Arras back to Maryland. The horse has staled off a bit and besides has a suspicious leg. Ben Jones has arranged to leave for Cuba with H. M. Woolfs Lucille K. and Lady Broadcast, Both have engagements at Oriental Park. Jockey C. E. Allen will accompany Jones and ride both horses. Several horsemen stabled at Hialeah are. anxious to ship over to Tropical Park and secretary Munroe has notified them that every stall on the ground is filled. Benny Beach made his first appearance in some weeks after a protracted illness. Beach is back on the job making the engagements of a couple of riders. Chairman Burdine of the Florida Racing Commission was invited to view the running of the Gables Handicap from the stewards stand, but a business engagement forced him to leave before its running. Guests in the stand for the running were A. J. Cleary and E. C. Smith, two stewards that officiated through the Hialeah Park season. There was such a surprising increase in the volume of speculation that the windows that were opened were not sufficient to accommodate the crowd. General manager Bruen announced that he would open practically all the windows for the remainder of the season or just as long as there is a demand. Starter Wingfield placed the following horses on the schooling list: Little Turkey, Lady Broadcast, Jaipur and Fair Jack. W. Carroll was suspended for three days by the stewards for cutting across the others directly after the start with Jack Howe in the third race Tuesday.
