INSPECT DERBY CANDIDATES J. W. Parrish. and Messrs. Sabath Among Sundays Louisville Visitors. Condition of Horses Pleases Chicago Owners Names for Parrish Juveniles Sanctioned by Registrar. LOUISVILLE, Ky.f March 1. Kentucky Derby candidates were paid visits at the Downs Sunday morning despite the chilly weather that prevailed, by their owners. J. W. Parrish, Midway banker, breeder and turfman, accompanied by his nephew, Howard Rouse, motored up from his home -to look over his colt Cold Check and filly Depression, which are both eligible for the Derby, while Judge Joseph Sabath, Albert Sabath, his son, and Norman Oberdorf, of Chicago, looked over I Say, the younger Sabaths filly and Manners, a gelding, both of which are eligible for the 0,000 added race Saturday, May 7. Cold Check had been given a light breeze Saturday morning by trainer Willie Crump, but Depression was breezed three furlongs for her owner in :40. Jake Lowenstein gave useful work to all of the Albert Sabath string, working them in their usual sets and the Chicago party was well pleased with the way they took to their tasks and complimented Lowenstein on the good condition of his charges. Raymond Yelton, who was with Mose Lowensteins stable at Miami, joined the Jake Lowenstein stable Sunday morning after a short visit to his family in Latonia and will don the Sabath silks this spring. gft racing establishment also has another Her in jockey J. W. Frye. The Sabaths and their guest, Norman Oberdorf, left for Chicago Sunday night. J. W. Parrish and Howard Rouse returned to Midway Sunday afternoon. The five two-year-olds in the Parrish stable have been named, the confirmation of the names submitted having been sent their owner. The best liked of their juveniles by their owner is named Isaiah, a black colt, by High Time, from the good race and producing mare, Mary Belle, which is the dam of Rolled Stocking, his stock horse at his Midway breeding farm. Momo is the name of the chestnut filly, by Rolled Stocking Escarpolette; Popo, for the bay colt, by Rolled Stocking Gossip Avenue; Woodstock, for the chestnut colt, by Rolled Stocking Rosewood, and New Baby, for the bay filly, by Baigneur Moody Mary. All of these youngsters are good looking individuals and appear to be able to win stakes or purses if they train on satisfactorily. The winter book operators are going to receive a commission from the Parrish stable on Cold Check at his prevailing odds of 100 to 1, as this price looks a bit out of line with his chances of winning the Derby. Theo. E. Mueller, a member of the Kentucky State Racing Commission, paid a visit to trainer Jim Moody and his horses at the Downs and among the visitors later in the morning were W. E. Smith, vice-chairman of m the Kentucky State Racing Commission and v Junius W. Bell, who has a number of horses in training under the care of G. W. Sparks. Trainer Claude Hunt, of the W. F. Knebelkamp string, sent the Derby candidate from this stable, Delivered, a quarter mile through the stretch on Saturday morning in company with Judge James P. Edwards Last Act in :25. This is the second time of the year that the gelding has been asked for any speed trials. He is taking to his work and gaining flesh even under training. Delivered is close to sixteen and one-half hands high and can well take on flesh in his preparation for his Derby engagement. : .
