1,000 FOR UNEMPLOYED NEW ORLEANS, La., March 1. With only a few scattered ticket accounts to be checked, proceeds from Sundays second annual one-day meeting for the benefit of the unemployed of this city, under the joint direction of the New Orleans Welfare Committee and the Louisiana Jockey Club, totalled slightly more than 1,000, according to unofficial figures. This considerable sum will be turned over to the Welfare Committee by the Louisiana Jockey Club through Col. John P. Sullivan, chairman of the board and managing director of the Fair Grounds. The Welfare Committee reports hundreds upon hundreds of needy families are to share, in the receipts from the days racing.
